Last night we installed new vinyl flooring in the kitchen, and we finished hanging the upper level of cabinets today. As a result, I feel pretty accomplished. Of course, it was a lot easier than installing new cabinets, since the holes were already in place. I just had to hold them up, set new screws, and level them.
I'm really pissed off at the contractors who removed them, though. They caused a lot more work for us with their sloppy removal job. They cracked and broke many of the counter-top brackets, kinked the copper line to the fridge, and split a number of the wood trim and veneer pieces. And today, when I went to reinstall the dishwasher, the nut on the supply line was actually broken in half. I've never seen a copper nut break like that, but I guess it could have been weakened by corrosion. The water out here seems to be rife with heavy mineral deposits that leave stains on all the fixtures and make our toilets smell funny.
We got our latest check from the insurance company today, this time for the extensive siding work. Of course, they made it out to the mortgage company, so we'll have to mail it to Washington Mutual for endorsement. Wonderful...
