the grinch who stole halloween

Halloween is only two weeks away. I still don't have my costume in order, as I'm having serious second thoughts about spending so much cash on a dozen wigs to play the part of "Cousin It". Honestly, I'm just not that excited about Halloween this year. It is, by far, my favorite holiday of all, but this year I feel unprepared. Last year, we had a party and invited all of our friends. We had a blast, although I got sick from trying to finish off the jello shots at the end of the night. (Everclear is vicious!)

It's also quite disgusting that a trip to Wal-Mart reveals Christmas and Thanksgiving just around the corner. We were even at Lowe's the other day, picking up some tiles for the kitchen floor, and they had all of those lame inflatable lawn decorations out. From the same platform, Santa was waving and Frankenstein was doing his sleepwalk thing. Let's face it. The only person who could ever pull off a combination of Halloween and Christmas was Tim Burton. With anyone else, the plasticity and over-the-top commercialism of the holidays becomes painfully clear.
