the lucky penny

Yesterday, we spent most of the day indoors. Sundays are generally reserved as "family days" in our household, as they are the only day that we are all guaranteed to have off - from school and work. We usually try to take short roadtrips or do some sort of outdoor activity with the kids. We were feeling a little sleepy, though, so choosymom and I had a nap in the afternoon and then spent some time going through old boxes and storage items. The kids watched old movies. It seems that regardless of how much "stuff" we get rid off, we can always find more if we come back a few weeks later.

For dinner, choosymom made tuna salad sandwiches, which was a nice and quick meal that didn't heat up the house at all. We ate pretty late, and probably could have started the bedtime routine with the kids with little resistance, but instead I decided to take the family out for desert. On the way out the door, choosygirl found a penny and dubbed it a "lucky" penny. We headed over to Sonic for some frozen treats.

The place was packed, so we opted for the drive-through and figured we would eat our desert on our way home. We sat in the line for a really long time after we had ordered. By the time we reached the window, the girl working behind the window said that our food was going to be free. She said that she was really sorry about our wait, and also that their credit card machine was acting funny, so she said not to worry about it. That was pretty cool of them! I hadn't complained, or even hinted at any displeasure for the wait time. In fact, I was in a pretty good mood when we pulled up to pay.

I guess choosygirl did find a "lucky penny" after all.
