We also exchanged belated Christmas gifts on our first night in the condo. The kids received a number of new toys and some clothes, and my parents got me a work light for the garage and one of those new-fangled digital picture frames. I can use the work light, but the picture frame may go back. They also gave us a gift tin of tasty chocolates, much to our delight/dismay.  read more »

missing cartoon network

When choosygirl was a few years old, she would wake much earlier than us, and she was always in a wonderful mood when she entered our room in the morning. She would come in with a huge smile on her face and shower each of us wit hugs and kisses. Then she would plop herself down in front of the television and watch Cartoon Network for an hour or so until we got out of bed. It was great.  read more »

Every couple of weeks, choosymom will bring home a new cable TV series on DVD from the local library. I generally respond with light disgust, but only because I hate to get sucked into watching another six DVD set. Since we haven't had local or cable television station on our TV for the last 3 or 4 years, we miss lots of the drama portrayed on pseudo "reality" shows, and we luckily escape much of the fear imposed by news media corporations. So I guess the occasional lapse is acceptable. The latest cable series that we have been watching is Dexter.  read more »

We just got back from having dinner at a friend's house. She made us these little pizza shells and let us make our own pizzas with lots of tasty toppings. It was yummy. Then, she put on The Iron Giant for the kids, although they were more interested in terrorizing her daughter's hamster and propelling each other off the recliner.  read more »

reliving our past through cartoons

Today, I've been watching old Chuck Jones cartoons with my kids. We picked up the 6-feature Chuck Jones collection on DVD. While you may not remember his name, he was a phenomenal animator of the late 70s and early 80s that created animated favorites such as The White Seal, Mowgli's Brothers, and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. I was looking for these on Amazon, and just happened to discover this DVD collection that includes them all on one disc, along with three Chuck Jones animated Cricket features.  read more »
